Season after season contestants on the reality show Survivor arrive on location clueless and unprepared. With each new cast I wonder why they didn-t do more homework in anticipation of the adventure of a lifetime and the possibility of a million-dollar payoff for their trouble.

It seems a no-brainer that anyone considering auditioning for Survivor would brush up on basic survival skills and work on physical fitness. I would think that prospective contestants would spend every spare moment fishing, swimming and beefing up.

The most obvious to me would be designing and building a practice shelter. I can-t imagine spending days on end in a jungle or forest without adequate sleeping quarters and protection from the elements yet survivor contestants arrive with no inkling of where to even start.

The most glaring example of poor shelter planning was a tribe who decided to excavate a large hole in the ground and construct their shelter on top. Of course this proved to be a bad idea when the hole filled up with the first storm.

Without a doubt the best Survivor shelter was built under the direction of former construction worker Boston Rob. Of course this season the tribes had the advantage of lumber and tools. The hits keep comin-: And The Alums Returning For ‘Survivor: South Pacific’ Are . . .

For viewers of the reality show Survivor the rules are simple. Contestants must outlast, outlive and outplay each other by avoiding elimination until the final tribal council where a jury of former opponents chooses the winner. Behind the scenes the show-s contestants are required to sign a multi-page contract delineating the rules of the game.

The contract is individualized for each season but many of the prohibited practices date back to the shows debut. The survivor contract includes a standard release clause and consent to continuous filming of event the most private moments along with a provision for strict adherence to laws governing the United States under threat of prosecution. There is the obligatory clause stating the rules can be changed at any time.

There is some question as to enforcement of these contract rules and stipulations. One of the contract-s clauses clearly states that contestants may not conspire to share in any prize yet I remember a past contestant bartering for immunity in exchange for a truck. Another contract item prohibits contestants from damaging or taking personal items of another tribe member but I-ve seen many players ignore this rule in past seasons.

Maybe the answer is Survivor cops and Survivor prison.

One of the smartest, thrown off contestant on Survivor, was Rudy Boesch. Not only was Rudy the oldest of the Survivors, he was a retired Navy Seal.

Rudy, a contestant on the first Survivor, was up against much younger rivals. This did not stop him from proving his physical abilities. Personality wise, he was a bit gruffer than the others, but he was in it to win, and he had 45 years of military experience behind him. He did not like the “game’ playing among the groups. When first arriving on Borneo, the first Survivor location, he took over the lead role. He may have been the best qualified, but the other team members were a bit turned off by this attitude. Although he was a strong believer in alliances, he came to realize that was the only way to win. Unlike other contestants, Rudy stuck to his word when he backed Richard, the eventual winner.

Rudy was a favorite among Survivor fans. He was asked back for the Survivor All Stars show, where he won the first Reward Challenge, but he sprained his ankle and was not able to finish the challenge and was voted off on Day 6.The information party rocks on: Champion Cowboys Coach To Compete On Next SURVIVOR!!

We’ve all imagined what it would be like to live on the deserted island with 15 other Survivor castmates. One of our favorite games to play here is to talk about what we’d take and what we’d miss while competing on the serieshere are some of the things we’ve come up with:
Internet: We’d really miss our clear wireless internet 4g connection since we wouldn’t be able to check email or watch Hulu. Or maybe that would be a good thing..
Cheetos: With an unnatural obsession with everything processed, Cheetos is at the top of the list when it comes to horrible foods we’d miss while competing in the challenges.
Razors: Who would want to go two months without shaving their legs or underarms or beard? Not us. We’d love nothing more than a tube of shaving cream and an electric razor.
Our Dogs: It’s a given, but who wouldn’t long for a hug from their favorite furry pet? Our dogs would probably forget we were gone after a couple of days but we’d be counting down the days until we got home to play fetch

This is an “insider” guide to what contestants on the Survivor reality television series are allowed to possess during competition. Participants can bring anything they want to the location, but this does not mean they are allowed to keep it or access to it until elimination. There is very little, in fact, beyond what they are wearing at the time they head off into the wilderness allowed to travel past civilization! What is allowed? Information available states Survivor cast members have access to vital medicine, such a blood pressure medication, as well as certain items considered “minimally appropriate” like contact lens solution, sunscreen, insect repellent, and feminine products. They are not allowed modern conveniences like toothbrushes or razors (male or female) as to enhance the realistic factor of struggle against nature. The clothing they are permitted to wear must be photographable colors lacking advertising with producers assisting in shirt selection to ensure a cohesive look without being too contrived. Contestants are allowed one pair of shoes to protect feet and one set of undergarments (underwear and bra for the women, underwear for the men); however thongs are obviously not allowed by either sex. Comfort or luxury items are distributed at the discretion of the producers.

“Survivor” is a very popular reality show that tests the limits of individuals who are left in the wilderness. It is the dream of many to be on this show, but there are few who can actually handle it. Contestants of “Survivor” have to be physically and mentally tough; they also have to be emotionally stable. That is why people who audition survivor spend many months preparing for it. One of the main things that potential contestants do is lead a healthy lifestyle.

Living a healthy lifestyle includes things like exercising and eating healthy. The contestants of “Survivor” have to complete many challenges that test physical endurance. Performing both aerobic and resistance activities everyday will allow a person’s body to be in shape so that it is ready for the intense activities. It is also important that individuals who are interested in being on this show eat a healthy diet. Participants have to make sure that the eliminate all of the junk foods and replace with them with healthier foods.

The contestants of “Survivor” are also known for eating not so tasty foods, so some individuals get their taste buds ready by eating foods that they are not accustomed to eating.

The exciting 21st season of Survivor came to a close on December 19, 2010. Jud Birza, a male model from Lake St. Louis, Missouri, won both the season and the honor of being the youngest winner in Survivor history.Birza was by no means a shoe-in throughout the season. Early on, he earned a reputation for being a less-than-serious opponent. La Flor tribemate Shannon Elkins even went so far as to nickname him Fabio after the famous Italian fashion model, actor, and romance writer. However, this early laid-back demeanor appears to have been a ruse. Birza, who graduated Wentzville Holt High School in 2007, later told interviewers, “I always knew I was going to wait to the last minute to be aggressive.” Hints of his true strategy came out as he won four individual immunity challenges. This helped him beat out the majority alliance of Chase Rice, Matthew Lenahan, and Holly Hoffman. In the final Tribal Council, Birza emphasized his friendly playing style, which helped him succeed without hurting people’s feelings. His own feelings came out when NaOnka Mixon asked him about seeing his mother near the end of the season. Through tears, the young player admitted that it was the thought of his family and his mother especially that kept him going on the island.Season 22 of Survivor is called Redemption Island. Filmed at the same location as Nicaragua (San Juan del Sur), the season nevertheless marks the appearance of a new wrinkle in the show’s tapestry. Instead of immediately going home after being voted out, each new outcast will be taken to “Redemption Island,” where he or she will have to survive alone. When a new outcast arrives, the two contestants compete in a duel, and only the winner is allowed to stay. This concept has already been featured in foreign Survivor editions, such as the Israeli Island of the Dead, the Phillipine Isla Purgatoryo, and the Serbian Ghost Island. It is also similar to the “Outcast” tribe used in Survivor: Pearl Islands, the seventh season of the American show. In episode seven, “What the?, Part 1,” previously voted-off players returned as a “ghost tribe,” which competed against the two main tribes. However, the concept didn’t go over particularly well, as both players and contestants were upset at not being informed of the concept ahead of time.

Episode 5 marked the first tribal witch of the season, and it was a doozy. Brenda and Holly were selected as the captains of the new tribes. Brenda picked Jane, Jill, and Marty to make the switch from the older tribe to the younger, while Holly picked Alina, Benry, Chase, and NaOnka to join the older tribe. This marked the end of the old-versus-young dynamic, but there wasn’t time to mourn, as the team was rushed into the Reward Challenge. This was a ball game played on a board of pegs. One team dropped balls, while the other team tried to anticipate them and catch the balls at the bottom. Espada took the win, gaining two hens and a rooster.Back at the camps, Marty told La Flor that he had a Hidden Immunity Idol, and his alliance with Jill caused more consternation. The Immunity Challenge involved strapping team members to a spinning wheel which spun into water. The players would capture the water in their mouth and use it to fill a tube, which released a ball when full. The other tribe members used this ball to break five tiles. La Flor won in an upset thanks to Fabio and Jane. At the Tribal Council, Espada cast out Tyrone (6-2) for his overpowering demeanor, giving a slide to NaOnka for a vulnerable moment during a rainstorm.

The full cast has been announced, including former coach Jimmy Johnson. The tribesEspada (“Sword”) and La Flor (“Flower”)are drawn. But the locationa remote area near the village of San Juan del Sur, Nicaraguais hiding the rest of its secrets well.We do know there will be some changes to the game this season. Jeff Probst has announced that the Hidden Immunity Idol will return. In the past, the idol proved a significant advantage for Russell Hantz, who discovered a significant number of the hidden items. Due to this so-called “Russell Factor”, the clues this season will no longer be word riddles, but will rather be visual.Another item, the Medallion of Power, is completely new to the game. With a name that sounds straight out of “Dungeons & Dragons”, not much is known about this mysterious object. It is confirmed, though, that once the team uses it in a challenge, it is transferred to the other tribe. The tribes this season will be playing out one of the oldest competitions of all: the battle of young vs. old. The La Flor tribe is composed of bright young whippersnappers, all of whom are 30 years old or younger. The Espada tribe is made up of the older, more “experienced” contestants over 40 years of age. Jimmy Johnson, known for both his years of coaching the Cowboys and Dolphins and his sports-casting, is the best known of these older souls. He was rejected for health reasons from Survivor: Gabon (the 17th season), but he seems to be in fighting shape for his Nicaragua stint. The season will premiere September 15 on CBS with the episode “Battle of the Ages”. Get your Wednesday evenings free now, because this is sure to be a season for the ages.

Fans love the “Survivor” series for its ruthless island alliances and betrayals. However, the show has also suffered real controversy over its 10-year (and counting) run, sometimes resulting in actual legal action. Here is a rundown of the most historic cases spawned by disgruntled players.10. An uncensored shot of Marcus Lehman “down under” during Survivor: Gabon raised a few eyebrows, forcing the show and network to publicly apologize for the shot.9. Producer Mark Burnett has admitted to re-enacting certain scenes, which angered long-time fans. However, he claims this was only done to improve production value, and never affected the outcome of the game.8. Richard Hatch, Survivor‘s first winner, was charged with tax evasion in 2006 after failing to report his winnings. He served a federal prison sentence, which prevented him from appearing on Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains.7. Denise Martin (Survivor: China) claimed to have been demoted from lunch lady to janitor because of her celebrity status, and Mark Burnett awarded her 50,000. The school district later revealed that Martin had taken the position before leaving for the show, and she ended up donating the money to charity.6. Season 13 took an unlucky turn when it was announced that the tribes would be divided by race.
