Spoilers and Strategy by VikingBear
Saturday night on Big Brother, the house guests completed their first week in the Big Brother house. Yesterday afternoon in the back yard, Jameka mentioned that in about two hours we will have been in the house for a full week.
If you don’t have the live feeds, you’re missing a treat! I’m here to assure you that even on dial up they work great. We finally get to move to DSL later this week. Thanks to the BB Reloader that means I’ll get to run different feeds in different windows. Why is that important? Because Big Brother is showing both sides of the conversation at the same time. You get two or three angles, so with both playing, you can watch the body language of everyone at once. You can follow two conversations at once. It’s quite remarkable!
This morning in the Big Brother House, everyone was asleep. We had four feeds of night cam. Pretty boring, unless you’re tracking who is waking up in bed with whom! Kail, in the Head of Household room, was our early bird. (No she was not in bed alone.) She hung out in the kitchen a bit, sat in her bed reading her Bible, and eventually ended up in the kitchen chatting with Dustin.
Were they talking strategy? Not particularly. And that is the beauty of the live feeds! They were just having a nice chit chat getting to know each other. It’s with the feeds that I’m getting to know each house guest. It’s like you’re there, just hanging out and listening. You can float from conversation to conversation without being labeled a floater! People don’t stop talking just because you “entered” their space. It is, of course, bikini season.
Kail was talking with Dustin about her home town in Oregon. It rains the entire winter. People really need to live there a year before buying a house. In the summer it’s great, with the river there, such scenery and greenery. But it rains all winter and that’s hard for many people to handle.
Dustin asked if she prefers the hot or the cold. Many house guests have had a time adjusting to Southern California afternoon heat! Kail prefers the heat to the cold. Me, I’ll take the Minnesota cold. You can always put another jacket on. When it stays below freezing you don’t need to worry about getting soaking wet. When it gets too hot, what do you do? It sure rains at home in Oregon, but it never rains in southern California!
Okay, so that was a pointless morning conversation with Dustin and Kail - the rest of the hamsters were still asleep - but not really. The early birds can have strategic conversations with nobody else the wiser. In fact Dustin then went back to bed for another hour and a half of sleep. So there’s no evidence any conversation even could have taken place. That’s no big deal by itself, but as Dr. Will showed last summer, you take a piece here and a piece there and over time your web is everywhere.
Kail might be hurting herself by spending too much time isolated in the HoH room. She’s not getting out and mingling enough. Maybe! On the other hand, these single conversations may hold her safe long enough to become better established, to better see how things lie.
Kail seems to have an explicit alliance with three of the men. Sorry I didn’t catch which three! Two men were in the HoH room talking with her. They were explaining to her that if the vote were announced as seven to three, the alliance would be exposed. People would figure out who the three are and they’d know that the three are an alliance.
Kail said there’s thirteen votes. A man said no there’s eleven votes. The HoH and nominees don’t vote. Okay, yes, eleven votes. Seven to three doesn’t add up to thirteen, but some day they may realize it also doesn’t add up to eleven.
At this point we seem to have a five-person alliance that includes both Daniele and her estranged father Dick. We also have the four-person alliance of Kail and three men. I personally think it’s too early for either such alliance.
At this early point in the game I see the early bird strategy as a relatively strong one. Get to know people quietly in the morning. It sets a tone for the day. More happens late in the evening, but there are enough drunken mistakes to cancel out the gains. Either way you’re helping to set other peoples’ expectations.
The Veto Ceremony is happening as I type this. Will Daniele alter the nominations? Probably not. Chances are good that the most annoying person will be sent home. That’s probably Carol. If Daniele uses the veto, Joe could be put up because he too is annoying. Kail might even do that to make points with her new friend Dustin.
Another reason to put Joe up is to force him to expose his ability. One can learn an awful lot by observing how the nominees react!
If Carol and Amber remain on the block, the votes will come from seven men and four women, at least two of the men being gay. Amber’s strategy seems to involve flashing the men, and Carol’s strategy seems to be limited to whining and complaining. At this point Carol the spoiled princess seems most likely to depart.
