Survivor Fiji: Tribal Transition

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

Survivor FijiStrategy Commentary by VikingBear

This week on Survivor Fiji, Lisi returned from Exile Island to join the Ravu Tribe. She replaces Anthony who was voted out at the last Tribal Council. Lisi had some tough sailing ahead of her. Tribe Ravu has always lost the Immunity Challenge, and Tribe Ravu has always voted out a woman.

When they shuffled the tribes, Ravu and Moto did alternating schoolyard picks. Ravu chose all men. Lisi was the odd person out. She went to Exile Island for a total meltdown. Ravu lost - as always - but had no woman to send home. Rocky declared Anthony to be the girlie-man and sent him home instead. So far, Rocky the woman hater has controlled every Ravu vote.

Lisi arrives by boat. As she steps off, she grabs a mouthful of sea water, swishes, and spits it back out. She walks into camp. Not one person had come to the beach to see her arrive.

Ravu really is a bunch of losers. We get a stomach full of Rocky’s attitude throughout the episode. We see his best bud Mookie making fun of Yao-Man trying to throw the fire ball in the first challenge. We know Ravu has done pretty much nothing around camp in more than two weeks.

However, that’s about to change. But perhaps not in the way we expect!

Helping Janie get a Pontiac

Saturday, September 9th, 2006

Terry over at TVSmack.com asked me to help spread the word. Here is his request to all of us, as received:

I’m trying to rally big brother fans together so that they petition Pontiac
and BB to give Janie a pontiac solstice on Tuesday’s live show:

http://www.tvsmack.com/ janelle-pierzina should-be-given-a-pontiac solstice-too/

Could you help get the word out? There’s so little time to make it happen.

Thanks for your help!

Big Brother 7 All Stars: Way to Throw, Part II

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

Strategy commentary by VikingBear

The question of the evening is, “Did Erika throw the final competition?” on CBS Big Brother All Stars. Click Here for my answer. However, let’s take this thought and run with it a bit further.

Of the Final Four, could any of them have beaten Doctor Will? Certainly not! Specifically, with Will and Boogie in the final two, who would win? Will!

Who was Head of Household when Chill Town lost it? Mike Boogie! Therefore, when Chill Town lost it, who remained protected? Mike Boogie. Do you recall Mike saying on camera some weeks ago that the plan might be deeper than anyone suspects? We assumed this was in reference to playing Janelle and Erika. But the way he said it just made you go Hmmm. (more…)

Big Brother 7 All Stars: Way to Throw, Erika!

Strategy commentary by VikingBear

Tonight on CBS Big Brother All Stars, Mike Boogie from Season Two won the final head of household competition. He evicted Janelle, keeping Erika to face the jury. Next Tuesday we get to see the Jury Grilling, and the final vote.

The question of the night is… did Erika throw the competition? (more…)

Big Brother 7 All Stars: Dude You Are So Going To Be Played

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

Spoiler and strategy commentary by VikingBear

Tonight on CBS Big Brother All Stars, we see Erika and Mike Boogie go head to head for the final Head of Household. Erika won the first round of three and Mike Boogie won the second round of three. Janelle has lost twice and been eliminated from the competition.

Janelle can only watch the competition play itself out. Janelle can almost certainly beat either Erika or Mike Boogie in front of the jury. In fact, Janelle is likely to win 7-0. But only if she can get in front of the jury!

If Mike wins Head of Household and takes Janelle, he will lose, and he knows it. If Mike wins Head of Household and takes Erika, he has a fair chance of winning, and knows that too. If Mike wins, he will almost certainly take Erika.

If Erika wins… (more…)

Big Brother 7 All Stars: Coup d’Etat

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

Spoiler and strategy commentary by VikingBear

This week in the CBS Big Brother All Stars House, we see irony tempered only by poetic justice. Mike Boogie has won the second phase of the three-part Final Head of Household Competition. He has won a car in the process.

While the season has been great, in one way it has been perhaps disappointing. There has been very little in the way of major luxury competitions and product placements. The producers took things a different direction instead. The major luxury competition was the Graveyard Watch. Mike Boogie got most of the prizes and blamed them on Marcellas. The celebration was overshadowed by Danielle’s 24 hours in solitary confinement with a slop bucket and jug of water.

Now we toss in a car as part of the competition win, and Mike gets it! So the luxury prizes have been there; they’ve all gone to the same person. Next… (more…)

Big Brother 7 All Stars: DEWEY WINS!

Tuesday, September 5th, 2006

Strategy commentary by VikingBear

CBS Big Brother All Stars was a great show tonight! I feel like the famous photo from the 1948 Presidential election, with President Truman holding up a newspaper with the huge headline, DEWEY WINS! Chill Town is headed for sequester, and Mike Boogie is not happy.

Will himself doesn’t know how he made it this far in the All Star game. We can all see how he did it… but what’s amazing to me is that NOBODY has caught on to Chill Town strategy until now. Will and Boogie have done an absolutely fabulous work of art. They almost made it.

This season I’ve had a fantastic time watching the strategy unfold. As Janelle herself now realizes, there have been countless missed chances. Most of those chances have been missed thanks to Chill Town. It’s been true pleasure to watch the Doctor in the House.

Yesterday I wrote Last Chance To Win (click here for the essay). I felt that tonight’s eviction determines the final winner. If Will stays, Will wins. If Janelle evicts Will, Janelle wins - or possibly Erika. Janelle listened. How cool is that!

At the start of the season I said I’m rooting for Will and for Chicken George, and I really like Erika. I despised the Sovs of last year. I’m happy for George, I’m happy for Will. I’m happy for Erika! And, Janelle has completely changed my opinion. She’ll need some recovery time from this summer, but I hope she does well. She gained a new fan this summer - me!

Somehow I have the feeling that both Nakomis and Diane are happy with tonight’s eviction. Bros before Hos indeed. The Bro named Boogie doesn’t take well to being caught out, does he?

What a great season!

Big Brother 7 All Stars: The Marcellas Ploy

Tuesday, September 5th, 2006

Spoiler and strategy commentary by VikingBear

Overnight on the CBS Big Brother All Stars live feeds, the women have finally compared notes. All men are scum. Slime. The jig is up. Operation Double Date has crashed and burned.

Janelle has played an emotional game, and Erika has played a logical game, though Erika says on camera that she plays an emotional game. Erika is destitute, she informs Janelle. Her last boyfriend stripped her and left her with nothing.

We can see why Erika… (more…)

Big Brother 7 All Stars: Last Chance To Win

Monday, September 4th, 2006

Spoiler and strategy commentary by VikingBear

Mike Boogie has aptly named this entire season of CBS Big Brother All Stars “Operation Double Date.” This week the final four become the final two. Will the inevitable happen? Perhaps not! Let’s take a quick look at each of our Final Four and see what we see.

Each of the four - Erika, Janelle, Mike Boogie, Will - represents an extremely strong strategy. Each, in my view, represents what being an All Star is all about. First, though, I gotta shout out to Chicken George. Dude, I never saw the first season. You’re everything you were reputed to be. You’re friendly, entertaining. You sacrificed like nobody else in the game (except perhaps Danielle’s 24 hours solitary). I wish you well.

Erika

Erika’s crisis is at hand. If she survives this next eviction, she may well win. That’s the catch, of course! She’s almost certainly gone with this next eviction. She will have finished 4th place twice, and Will will finish 1st place twice.

Erika has… (more…)

Big Brother 7 All Stars: Floater Power

Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006

Spoiler and strategy commentary by VikingBear

This week on CBS Big Brother All Stars, James and Chicken George are up for eviction. I expect James will be evicted, but as always, it’s not over until it’s over! Let’s take a look at some strategies and see what should happen.

I view Big Brother like a game of social chess. We have the opening moves, a middle game, and an end game. This week marks the strong transition from middle game to end game. As with chess, your end-game strategy needs to change from your middle-game strategy. I expect we will see some major changes. Alliances will change, strategies will change, and the game will flip several times. I can’t wait to see what happens!

Mike Boogie is Head of Household, and has… (more…)
