The critics and message board posters seem to unanimously despise Fox TV’s reality show Unan1mous. American Idol gets credit for the relatively good ratings. And, sure, that worked for me! I’ve stuck around long enough to see that the show has possibilities.

At first blush, Unan1mous is absolutely horrid. It’s touted as a reality show, so we’re expecting to see the usual run of pretty people placed in exotic or scary situations. Instead, we’re dropped in the middle of a bad, oppressive, dated Cold War movie. We expected a reality TV show, and instead we’ve been dropped into… The Twilight Zone! (more…)

Idol on Fox turned up a great strategy! Slip Unan1mous in right after the American Idol eviction show. Twice now I have been so overwhelmed by gravity from watching 27 minutes of commercials and silliness with 3 minutes of actual American Idol eviction content, that I sat there and watched Unan1mous. Ya know… this might actually turn out to be a great show!

Like everyone else, I don’t yet know what to make of it. Like that other Fox hit the O’Reilly Factor, it could become a cult hit for how bad it is. On the other hand… again like Bill O’Reilly’s show… there is potential for pure brilliance.
