Big Brother 7 All Stars: Nominees Diane and Nakomis, Claws Versus Brains

Strategy commentary by VikingBear

This week on Survivor, Diane and Nakomis have been nominated for eviction. Erika has chosen to not use her Power of Veto. So who is leaving? Or, more importantly, who is staying?

Once one of the two women is gone, she’s gone. She has no further effect on Big Brother House. So, from a strategy standpoint, it… doesn’t matter who’s leaving. What matters is who’s staying.

Diane

What do we know of Diane? We know she connected up with Drew her season, and got screwed in the process. The Four Horsemen chose “bros before hos.” Nakomis got screwed by her own brother Cowboy for the same reasons.

Diane, perhaps, has low esteem issues at present. That means she can be pretty easily reached at an emotional level. Boogie sees her as a possible showmance. I don’t know whether she sees Boogie as disgusting or not, but certainly she could be brought into an alliance with him.

If Diane is reached, it will probably be by emotion rather than logic. We can probably count on her for emotional, rather than rational, reactions. Will she be loyal? Yes, probably so, if she’s made that emotional commitment. It’s quite possible she’ll do pretty much anything to avoid rejection.

Thus, if she remains in the house, I see Diane as a highly useful, even if perhaps unstable, pawn. She’s a good candidate for truly evil manipulation. Are there any truly evil manipulators in the house? Ya think?

As we watch Diane through the season, I think the thing to watch is how she’s being used. She’s a player and an All Star to be sure. But she can be reached, I think, and the one person she feels she can trust will be gone (Nakomis).

At the moment, the House Guests seem to be jumping back and forth daily as to whom to evict. Diane’s in there fighting tears and claws. If she survives the week, chances are she’ll be grateful to someone, and highly useful in the shifting alliances to come.

There’s a good chance that Diane, like Danielle, will be grateful to the Season Six alliance for “saving” her.

Nakomis

I like Nakomis. I personally hope she goes further this season than her prior season. She’s capable of turning the game upside down - and I hope she does!

With Nakomis, I suspect, the keys are friendship, loyalty, and logic. She’s not afraid to make a big play. And, if she survives this week, she knows she has nothing to lose. I’m counting on her to survive the week - though I don’t know how - and make somebody hurt for putting her up.

I wouldn’t mind it a bit if Nakomis were to win Head of Household and power of veto. Put up Boogie and Howie. Ask Howie if he’d rather start begging, literally and on camera, or go home. Nakomis, I suspect, could mess with his head rather nicely.

If the floaters are to rise up and revolt, Nakomis is the most likely one to do it. I’m thinking that she can make it a revolt to remember. Howie will have to have someone explain what just happened… but there’s plenty of time, and plenty of people willing to explain.

I’m counting on Nakomis, now that she’s received her wake-up call, to make next week one to remember.

So who’s going to stay? Diane or Nakomis? I have no idea! Will the question be whom we want to get rid of, whom we want to keep, or whom we’re afraid to keep? I don’t know! Will it be a contest of claws versus brains, or will the two women be mere pawns between the competing factions? I don’t know!

What a great season!
